(K)no(w) Directions

A driving game with no turn-by-turn directions. The car is simulated; the roads are real.

Coming to iPhone

East along Rio Salado Parkway.

Tempe Town Lake lies to the north. Real streets from OpenStreetMap, in the city where the game is played.

South on Rural Road.

One-ways and turn bans count. This route was checked against our own road network.

West along University Drive.

The ASU Tempe campus lies to the north. Pick the roads. Live with the consequences.

Race in Phoenix and Tempe.

The race clock never stops. Tempe is the only race city today.

How it plays

  • Read the map. You get a start, a destination, and the real road network of Phoenix and Tempe, Arizona.
  • Choose your roads. No voice, no arrows, no rerouting. You plan the route yourself.
  • Live with the consequences. A wrong turn costs time. An illegal maneuver is never carried out; the game tells you what was illegal and what you can do instead.
  • Beat the clock. The race clock never stops, including while you think. Compare your time with the reference route, your friends, and the daily leaderboard.

Simulated driving

The game never uses your device's location. Everything happens on a simulated car on a digital copy of the road network.
